Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba (SUDS) is designed to help improve the lives of wounded, injured & ill service members who served in Iraq & Afghanistan. By training the warriors in a challenging & rewarding activity it can help facilitate the rehabilitation process & promote mobility. Offering this venue provides the warrior with a sport they can enjoy during their rehabilitation & throughout their life.
SUDS was established in February of 2007 at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC. The program is for service members who have a permanent physical disability requiring adaptation. Our certification training agency is Scuba Diving International (SDI) and the program is run by a dedicated staff of volunteers who are passionate about helping our service members learn about the sport of diving. Our dive staff are American Red Cross volunteers & all our Board Members are former or current military.
