What Makes Cozumel Special
Cozumel's reef system — part of the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, the second largest in the world — provides an underwater experience that cannot be replicated in US waters. The warm, clear Caribbean Sea, the density of marine life, and the sheer scale of the reef walls create what many SUDS participants describe as a "life-defining" experience.
"I've been to combat. I've been in ICUs. I've been in dark places. Cozumel was the first time in years that I had nothing but wonder. Sixty feet down, a reef wall going deeper than I could see, and not a single bad memory." — SUDS Cozumel Participant, 2024
Live Coverage for Families
The Cozumel expedition includes dedicated underwater videography from a SUDS media volunteer. Highlight videos are published within 72 hours on the SUDS gallery. Families can also receive real-time photo updates via a dedicated event WhatsApp group — register for the family update list when your veteran confirms participation.
