How to Volunteer with SUDS in 2026: Roles, Requirements, and How to Apply
SUDS operates on the dedication of volunteers. From the certified dive instructors who lead open-water certification dives, to the videographers who capture event footage for families watching from home — every SUDS event is made possible by people giving their time and expertise. In 2026, with nine events across five sports disciplines, the need has never been greater.
Open Volunteer Roles for 2026
🤿 Certified Adaptive Dive Instructors
SDI or PADI certified instructors with adaptive diving credentials. Minimum 2-year teaching experience. Availability required for at least one summer event (July–September 2026).
🧗 Adaptive Climbing Guides
AMGA certification required. Experience with adaptive athletes preferred. Two fall events in Colorado and New Mexico.
📹 Media & Video Volunteers
Videographers and photographers to capture event content for families and post-event coverage. Drone operators welcome for outdoor events. All content shared via the SUDS gallery and YouTube channel.
📋 Event Logistics Coordinators
On-the-ground event management support. No specific certifications required. Must be organized, reliable, and comfortable in outdoor environments.
🏥 Medical Volunteers
Wilderness First Responders, EMTs, and physicians to support event safety protocols. Particularly needed for international events (Cozumel, Rincon).
