SUDS & Warfighter Sports: A Partnership Serving Wounded Warriors Since 2010
Since 2010, SUDS and Warfighter Sports have operated with complementary missions that allow each organization to serve more veterans by working together. Where Warfighter Sports specializes in competitive adaptive athletics, SUDS focuses on the therapeutic and experiential dimension of adaptive sports — making the two programs natural partners for veteran outreach.
How the Partnership Works
The SUDS-Warfighter Sports partnership creates a referral and shared-resource pipeline:
- Warfighter Sports refers veterans who express interest in water and outdoor sports to SUDS
- SUDS refers veterans interested in competition and organized sport to Warfighter Sports events
- Joint outreach at military treatment facilities maximizes reach without duplicating effort
- Shared equipment logistics for overlapping event locations reduce costs for both organizations

Looking Ahead: 2026 Collaboration
In 2026, SUDS and Warfighter Sports are coordinating outreach timing around key military events including the DoD Warrior Games. Veterans who participate in Warrior Games and express interest in continuing adaptive sports programming are introduced to SUDS as a follow-on option.
